W:People use this account for making bigger purchases, then paying them back over time.
M:That sounds perfect.I wanted to get a new car for my wife.
W:Great. We’ll just need your ID card and some proof of your current address to open the account.

W:What is the issue,sir?
M:I usually don’t wear running shoes,so I don’t know if the sizes are a bit different. These shoes are size 41,but they are still so small.
W:What size shoes do you normally wear? Running shoes shouldn’t be much smaller than other types of shoes.
M:I don’t usually wear size 41 shoes.Normally I wear a size smaller.Anyway,I must return these shoes.
W:Would you like another pair of running shoes,or maybe hiking shoes?
M:All of those activities hurt my knees sometimes.Could I buy some tennis shoes instead?
W:Follow me.I’ll show you to the sports shoe section.

W:Oh,really? I got some water on it last week and I was afraid that it might ruin the watch. How much is a new battery?
M:It’s $5,and we not only change a battery but also guarantee it for a year. And if you have the watch cleaned here,we can guarantee it for an additional three months.
W:That sounds like a good deal.I’ll get my battery here. When will it be ready?
M:Usually I can do it right away, but now I’m repairing lots of watches. Can you leave your watch here until 5 pm?
W:OK,see you then.

M:How was your doctor’s appointment?
W:It was fine.He says that I’m pretty healthy overall. But I told him that I have trouble sleeping sometimes, and he offered me sleeping pills.
M:Did you take them?
W:No.I’m afraid they are harmful to my health.
M:So what are you going to do?
W:I think I will schedule an appointment with a psychologist.Maybe I can’t sleep because I have too much anxiety.Talking to someone may help.
M:You know,I used to have trouble sleeping, too. And I found a few things that can help.If I exercise outdoors in the morning,it relaxes me all day. Also,if I don’t use my phone or computer after 8:00 pm,then I can easily fall asleep at 10:00.
W:Those are great suggestions.Maybe I should try those things before I pay to see a psychologist.
M:Yeah.You might as well try.

Text 10
We stand at a great moment in our history. We have for a long time known of the dangers of global warming, but sadly little action has been taken to respond to it.However,we have listened to our children campaigning all across the world, and we have chosen to listen to them, and make hard choices. We have set a date of 2025 for petrol-based cars to stop production. That gives producers a few years to complete the change from polluting vehicles to electric cars which are clean. In addition, our governments will bring in a vehicle exchange system. It will allow drivers to trade in their car for an electric model at no additional cost.We see this as an urgent action that needs to be taken. We cannot put profits ahead of the health of our planet. For too long, the industries that pollute the most have dragged their heels.Well no more! In addition,we will also be banning all plastic bottles by 2030.Unless producers can find a way to make plastic break down,we would suggest a return to glass bottles. They can easily be reused and recycled with no harm to the environment.Plastic has invaded our food supply, and we need to remove it urgently before it destroys our planet’s ecosystem.
