W:Yeah, I’m going to the bank and change it for bills, but first I have to separate them into little piles.

M:OK, I’ll find all the quarters and dimes while you sort the nickels and pennies.

W:Great, then we can add everything up and take it to the bank.

M:I found some coins that are not from here.

W:Oh yeah, those are from my trip to London.I have a couple of different pence, but in all it won’t add up to one pound.

W:Help me decide on which type of hotel room to book.

M:I want the one with a bed.

W:Very funny. We have a choice of different views, and each one is a different price. For instance, a room with a city view is $ 175 a night.

M:$ 175 a night? That’s highway robbery!

W:If you think that’s too steep, there are some other options. We can get a courtyard room with no view for $ 120 a night or a room with an obstructed or peek-a-boo ocean views for $ 130 a night.

M:I don’t really care which type of room we get as long as we don’t end up with a room on the ground floor.I don’t like having people walking back and forth outside my window all night.

W:Okay, I can request a room on an upper floor. You really don’t have a preference?

M:No, not really.

W:There is a penthouse room for $ 400 a night.

M:What?! For that price, I’d better get a view of the Eiffel Tower, the Parthenon, and the Great Wall of China!

听第10段材料,回答第17至20题。

Text 10

Today we will explore an expression from the book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The book was published in 1865.The story is about a young girl falling, falling, falling... for a long time down a rabbit hole. When she finally lands, she finds herself in a strange world.

In this strange world are some of the most famous characters in children’s literature. Many of them have found their way into American English.

The first character Alice meets is the White Rabbit. He is wearing a vest and carrying a pocket watch. He also has somewhere very important to be; he says over and over.Running past Alice, he says,“I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date!”

Alice runs after him, and that is where her adventures begin. In English, chasing a white rabbit means to chase the impossible, a fantasy, a dream. The White Rabbit is so curious, so strange, that Alice cannot help but follow him.As she chases after him, she falls down the rabbit hole into Wonderland and begins her mysterious journey.
