Let me tell you about my experience in the Young Elephant Training Centre in Thailand, which is very impressive.In the centre, when an elephant is born, he or she remains with the mother for the first three years of life.Then, in June of the year of the youngster’s third birthday, they’re off to school.Just like us humans, the mother elephant may not want her baby to leave, and the little one may be reluctant to go to school, but it has to be done.The mother must return to her own work routine and the baby must be educated for his future career.The elephant school semester runs from June until February of the following year, and the young pupil will go to school five days a week.Each school day morning sees the trainees being rounded up from the forest where they have spent the night.Isn’t that amazing?
