  Lionel Hampton was born in Kentucky, USA in 1908.When he was a teenager, he began to play the drums.In the 1930s, he, Gene Krupa and the pianist Teddy Wilson started a band.Before long, he became popular because of his Moonglow.In 1940, he started his own big band.The band was famous for playing jazz.Hampton once said, “I have just one wish.I want to be remembered for spreading happiness and kindness.” He did just that.When he was ninety-four, he died of a heart problem.
